Unruly Splendour
Date
2024
Location
Berlin
Unruly Splendour was an outdoor exhibition in Körnerpark featuring eight Berlin-based artists—Andrea Acosta, Anajara Laisa Amarante, Anne Duk Hee Jordan, Nika Radić, Marie Salcedo Horn, Kyoco Taniyama, Sophie Utikal, and Ra Walden—who explored the body’s relationship to nature, ecology, and systems of control. Set against the backdrop of a neo-baroque garden, the exhibition challenged dominant ideals of symmetry, order, and beauty by celebrating deviation, difference, and unruliness.
Through diverse practices, the artists envisioned alternative futures where ecological cycles, the misbehaving body, and non-normative experiences resist capitalist and patriarchal structures. Unruly Splendour asked what becomes possible when nature—and the body—is allowed to thrive on its own terms.
Curated by Kate Brehme and Kirstin Broussard for Berlinklusion.
